Haiku_you is a community where you can post you thoughts and art along with your haiku. Feel free to follow the 5-7-5 structure, 17 syllables, or free-form; poetry shouldn't be fickle.

The whole family
all with white hair and canes
visiting graves.

Full autumn moon
to my gate comes rising
crested tide.

Blown from the west,
fallen leaves gather
in the east.

Till your clothes can barely be
seen in the distance, my love,
I keep looking back at your house.

"Haiku is more than a form of poetry; it is a way of seeing the world. Each haiku captures a moment of experience; an instant when the ordinary suddenly reveals its inner nature and makes us take a second look at the event, at human nature, at life."

A.C. Missias

"I propose that the 'Western Haiku' simply says a lot in three short lines in any Western language. Above all, a Haiku must be very simple and free of all poetic trickery and make a little picture and yet be as airy and graceful as a Vivaldi Pastorella."

Jack Kerouac
